About Me

I'm Richard Taylor (Ricky) the owner of XLE Safety & Training

I took over the business of XLE Safety & Training on 1st January 2025 from my friend and colleague Stephen Burns. I have over 30 years experience in public safety and managing events. I trained at the Emergency Planning College in Event Safety, and some of the Emergency Planning disciplines. I have a NEBOSH qualification in Health and Safety, and I am a Level 3 Trainer.

Our Story

Stephen has been the Safety Consultant to the NW200 International Motorcycle Race for the last 4 years. He is also the Safety Consultant to the International Youth Football Tournament known as the SuperCupNI or the old Milk Cup.

In addition, Ricky is one of the Safety Advisors to the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) at the Eikon, for events such as the Balmoral Show. He also provides safety advice to Ballymacash Rangers FC.

Ricky provides safety advice to sporting bodies across the country, and has recently worked with the Police and Government departments to have new legislation introduced to allow for a brand new role at events known as Accredited Road Marshals.

These marshals now have the power to stop traffic for the first time ever in Northern Ireland. New courses have been developed to enhance safety at road based events and a brand new Moto Marshalling course has been designed which will be rolled out from March 2024. Event Stewarding Courses have been delivered to businesses and community groups in a bid to make their events safer.

XLE Safety and Training continues to develop and push safety at road based events across Northern Ireland.
